Evolve a Cell officially lets you shape and paint your own creature. Current community walkthroughs show a broader customization workflow that separates placed parts, body shape, and paint-style choices, but the public developer description does not publish editor controls, unlocks, saving, symmetry, costs, or gameplay effects. Design from the interface in front of you and test function separately from appearance.

A strong design is readable while moving. You should be able to identify the front, see important parts, steer through food, and understand which side makes contact. Appearance can be expressive without hiding how the creature works.

Choose the design guide you need

Edit in a safe place

Move away from feeding clusters, moving cells, and boss or event activity before opening the editor. The experience may continue while the interface covers the pond. Confirm you can close the menu and regain movement before making detailed changes.

If the current server provides protection, a dedicated editing area, or a saved-design feature, read its exact rules. Those systems are not documented on the public Roblox page. Never assume the editor pauses danger.

Work from function to silhouette to color

Start with the body parts required for the build’s job. Keep them visible and oriented so you can understand contact or movement. Next adjust the shape while preserving a clear front, rear, and turning direction. Paint last, using contrast to make the important orientation cues easier to see.

This order prevents a beautiful shape from forcing awkward part placement and prevents paint from hiding the features you need to steer. If your goal is purely creative, the same order still helps the final creature remain readable in the pond.

Keep official parts easy to read

Jaws, spikes, eyes, and tails are official names. Their exact functions are not publicly documented, so avoid using visual style as proof of mechanics. A jaw can mark the front of the creature without proving damage. A spike can communicate danger without proving defense. An eye can help the player read orientation without proving vision range.

Use the Parts Dex to test each attachment. Place one type, keep shape stable, and repeat the same action before deciding that the design affects performance.

Treat symmetry as a tool, not a rule

Community footage shows symmetry-related shaping or placement controls in an October 2026 build. Verify the current editor. Symmetry can make a creature easier to read and balance visually, while asymmetry can create identity or clarify a specialized side.

Do not assume symmetrical parts automatically double an effect or cost. Check the transaction and live behavior. Do not assume an asymmetrical outline changes turning or collision until a controlled test supports it.

Use paint for orientation and contrast

Choose a body color that remains visible against the pond. Give the front, rear, or key parts enough contrast to read at gameplay zoom. Avoid patterns that conceal small threats or make your own feedback difficult to see.

Community guides mention colors, patterns, textures, and glowing effects, but exact options and unlock paths are not official. Record what the current Paint interface offers. Leave unavailable or unknown fields blank rather than promising a reward source.

Save without losing a working creature

Before major changes, look for a current save, slot, undo, reset, or confirmation option. The official page does not document persistence. If no clear save feature exists, capture screenshots and record the part list, orientation, shape settings, and colors before editing.

Confirm whether removing a part refunds, stores, destroys, or simply detaches it. Community footage may show a mouse action that does not apply on touch or controller. Follow current prompts and test with a low-cost change first.

Test alleged gameplay effects separately

Hold parts, tree, mutation, route, device, and camera constant. Change only one shape or paint variable. Compare ordinary movement, turning, contact, visibility, or another claimed effect. Several consistent runs are required before calling the result functional.

If only your ability to see the front improves, report a readability benefit—not a speed or vision stat. Practical visual value is still useful and does not need a hidden mechanic to matter.

Design questions

Can I shape and paint my cell?

Yes. Both features are stated in the official Roblox description.

Does shape change stats or collision?

No public official rule was verified. Test one shape variable at a time with the same route and build.

Are colors unlocked through progression?

Community sources show progression-linked options in some builds, but exact unlocks are not official. Read the current Paint screen.
