Evolve a Cell Carnivore Build

Build an Evolve a Cell hunting route around target selection, approach, contact, recovery, parts, and a reliable exit.

An Evolve a Cell carnivore build needs a complete hunting loop: identify an eligible target, approach without losing the exit, make short contact, recover position, and leave before another cell arrives. Hunting other cells, including players, is official. Exact food colors, kill rewards, bite values, and diet restrictions are not publicly documented.

Select targets before building damage

Watch size, speed, route, nearby threats, and escape space. A smaller target beside a larger hunter can be bait. A slow target entering a crowded patch can become harder than a faster target in open water. Do not let a health bar or visual size replace positional judgment.

Choose targets you can reach and leave. If the approach consumes every movement option, the build has no recovery plan. Abandon the attempt before contact rather than following into an unknown area.

Create an approach-contact-exit chain

Test ordinary movement first. Approach from the side so the target cannot flee directly along your path. Make one short contact attempt and immediately restore camera information. Decide whether the target is still safe before continuing.

The chain should work even when the first contact does not finish the target. A build that succeeds only through uninterrupted forward pressure is vulnerable to turns, obstacles, and third parties.

Choose parts for observable jobs

Jaws officially exist and community play links them to biting or close contact. Confirm the current description, cost, reach feedback, and placement. Tails officially exist and may support movement according to community sources, but verify the actual live effect. Spikes and eyes require even more careful role testing.

Use one front-facing contact tool and preserve body readability. Adding multiple copies before confirming stacking can spend resources without improving the hunting chain. See Jaws and the Parts Dex for test plans.

Support contact with survival and recovery

Damage is useless if the cell cannot survive the return contact or leave the area. Compare current options for durability, recovery, turning, and burst availability. Community names and percentages can change; evaluate the action they enable.

After every fight, move away from the result before opening a menu or collecting contested rewards. Another hunter may be waiting for both cells to weaken each other.

Align tree and mutations with the hunt

Current community walkthroughs show hunt-related tree paths and mutations, but their exact nodes and values are not official. Choose bonuses that support the repeated chain: approach, contact, recovery, or exit. Avoid spending across several branches merely to chase a high displayed damage number.

For random traits, keep a lower-rarity result that reliably protects the chain over a rare effect with no frequent trigger. Verify keep-versus-replace behavior before rolling.

Measure the whole hunt

Record target type, server condition, approach distance, movement used, contacts, health lost, time to disengage, and whether a third party arrived. Several clean hunts with low recovery cost are more useful than one dramatic elimination.

If progress is slow, identify the weakest link. Better route selection may outperform more damage. Faster movement may need better turning. Strong contact may need a safer exit. Change only that link and repeat.

Review the whole hunting cycle

Judge the build from search to recovery, not from one successful bite. Time how long it takes to find an eligible target, approach without being noticed, make useful contact, leave danger, and return to feeding or another hunt. A layout that wins one contact but spends most of the run turning, chasing, or recovering may progress more slowly than a controlled alternative. Repeat the cycle against different targets and write down failed approaches as well as wins. This exposes whether a part placement is genuinely reliable or only looked strong when a favorable target crossed its path.

Carnivore FAQ

Is hunting officially part of the game?

Yes. The official description says you can hunt other cells, including players.

Do carnivores need jaws?

Jaws are officially present and community-associated with biting, but the public description does not state a diet requirement. Follow the live build and diet text.

What target should I hunt first?

Choose one the current game indicates is eligible, with enough open water to approach and leave. Do not rely on size alone.

Is meat always faster than plants?

No official payout comparison is published. Hunting can create higher risk and downtime, so measure total route progress in the same version.
